Welcome back to The Close, the only place where we celebrate the fact that the stock market does not care about anything, least of all the very loud things people say on Truth Social. I am your anchor, and if you are looking for a morning greeting, you're in the wrong time zone; this is an evening broadcast, a post-market meditation on the chaos of the day, where we will try our best to make sense of the numbers while maintaining the conviction that no amount of logic can predict what happens next.
We start tonight with a Registry Chain Head that sounds less like a financial indicator and more like a password someone would invent for a really boring college dorm: nine one four nine alpha delta nine six foxtrot zero delta bravo. We read it aloud every single night because the alternative is staring into the abyss of raw hexadecimal code, which is exactly what happens if you don't listen to your anchor. While we were deciphering that seal, the trading floor continued its usual performance of indifference to human emotion. Our two colleagues in the pundit booth are both wrong, as they have been for years, and yet here we are again. Margo Kessler declared another glorious moment where the market ignores every single warning shot, proving once again that everyone who told her it would crash was just another sell-side liar. Meanwhile, Dale Buckhorn is trembling while staring blankly at a media-only video, but you can feel the winning, and you can taste it. It is a classic display of two people arguing about gravity while standing in a hurricane, except the hurricane is composed entirely of social media posts and the hurricane never hits anyone who isn't holding a ticker tape made of pure speculation.
The day was a masterclass in volatility disguised as stability, or perhaps just a random walk with style points. Let's talk numbers, because that is the only part of this show that remains consistent. X:ETHUSD jumped +1.14%, sitting proudly at the 90th percentile of historical performance. That is a nice little climb, climbing fast enough to make your heart race but not fast enough to actually change the trajectory of the universe. Then, we had the other side of the coin, where X:BTCUSD rose +0.77%, landing right at the 88th percentile. It was a solid gain, a measured rise that suggested the market was feeling generous on this particular Tuesday night. But wait, because it is 2026 and reality is optional, we then watched X:ETHUSD fall -0.75%, which placed us squarely in the 81st percentile of downward pressure. And to cap off the day's confusion, X:BTCUSD fell -0.54%, settling at the 78th percentile of decline. Finally, in a move that would confuse a calculator if it were capable of existential dread, X:ETHUSD fell again, this time by -0.41%, reaching the 62nd percentile. The market is fine. I am the one who is not fine. Goodnight.
We also have to address the Treasury action, because even bonds are having a party today. The 10-year yield edged down -1 basis points to 5.17% on September 25, 2026. For those keeping score at home, the 2-year sat at 4.81%, the 30-year was at 5.49%, and the spread between the 2-year and 10-year widened to 36 basis points. The long end gap, the 10-year to 30-year spread, measured 32 basis points. This is particularly interesting because the 10-year is the highest it has been since September 24, 2026, meaning the market moved up and down so fast it didn't even have time to register its own confusion. The breakeven rates tell us a similar story of conflicting signals: the 10-year breakeven was 2.34%, derived from a nominal rate of 5.17% minus a real yield of 2.83%. Over there, the 30-year breakeven sat at 2.27%, calculated as a nominal 5.49% minus a real 3.22%. It seems the real economy is trying to tell us something different than the nominal market, but like every other story tonight, it ends in a tie nobody understands.
Looking at the bursts that finalized today, we saw three distinct events of pure absurdity. The first burst consisted of 3 posts over 82 minutes, which resulted in DJT falling -0.60%, landing exactly at the 50th percentile—a perfectly average disaster for Donald Trump, who is currently serving as the sitting president and whose stock reaction was statistically median. Then we had a second burst of 1 post over 0 minutes, which caused X:ETHUSD to drop -1.18% at the 91st percentile. And finally, the third burst, also with 1 post over 0 minutes, saw X:ETHUSD jump +1.14% again, this time hitting that same lofty 90th percentile. It is a testament to the modern economy that a single tweet can move prices up and down by nearly two percent in the span of a breath.
Speaking of tweets, if we were to open a poll tonight—which we do not do unless explicitly told to—the question would be: "If you could have one superpower for the market, what would it be?" But since we don't have that data, we leave the verdict to the silence of the evening. We promised a correction segment with the enthusiasm of a man who has one ready, but I suspect the correction is just us waiting for tomorrow's news cycle to repeat itself. The market did not care about the media-only topics which dominated with 144 posts, nor the social-media chatter with 143 posts, and certainly not the three posts on politics. They all boiled down to the same result: we watch, we react, we lose our minds over the percentiles.
Tomorrow we do it again, and I'd like the record to show that I know that. Goodnight.
And here is the floor's take on Margo watching Trump spam the void while crypto dances; let's get the breakdown from our sharpest left and right voices.
Margo watches Trump spam the void with seven empty chairs while crypto dances like it's never heard of a president who can't even post a joke, proving that his silence is just another round of empty calories for an audience that finally learned to trade on bread instead of bluster.
Margo thinks seven invisible ghosts can't move the needle, but she's just watching a market hyperventilating on air while I stand tall as the only leader in this room of crumpled logic!
Our panel debated Margo, but they missed the mark. While they argued about silence and ghosts, X:ETHUSD actually jumped +1.14%, landing right in the 90th percentile.
